Tax Time: Tax Deadline Extension.

That’s right, tax payers now have 3 extra days to toil on their tax returns due to an obscure holiday in the District of Columbia. Emancipation Day, a holiday celebrating the freeing of slaves in D.C. will be observed on April 15th this year. Since that is a Friday, that bumps the deadline for filing your taxes to Monday, April 18th.
This is good news for those tax payers affected by the IRS delayed start of processing itemized deductions. It might be seen as unwelcome news for the near 50% who receive a refund or “credit” on their tax bill since it might delay payment as well. I guess that would be good motivation to file early, huh?
So what are you going to do with your 3 extra days to file?
