At the time, I had a 3 year service contract with a big-name provider, but I only used the phone a few times a month. I mostly used it to tell my wife I was stuck in traffic anyway, which was a minute long call. I was paying about $80 a month for 150 minutes a month that I wasn’t using!
So we shopped around for a pay as you go option. At the time the only option was TracFone, so we went with them. That was about 5 years ago and I haven’t had any complaints with the service, certainly not for the amount I pay (about $20 every 3 months).
The phones they offer aren’t Black Berry or iPhone, but if you just need a cell phone for casual use and don’t want to get roped into a costly contract you should check them out.

I have to say that tracfone is one of the best deals I have ever found. My sister is paying around 80 dollars a month for just one phone. when she asked me what I pay I mentioned that I pay about 20 dollars every three months she was amazed.

Coupons always come in handy…thanks for sharing. But TracFone has such amazing deals, you almost have no need for coupons. I just saw at Family Dollar, a TracFone bundle that comes with a phone, car charger, phone carrier and headset for only $8! What an incredible deal!
I can relate to the author about ditching costly cell phones with contracts. You really can’t grasp the concept until you switch to a prepaid phone/plan. Tracfone has been a positive transition for me, and has allowed us to really save money each month which adds up at the end of the year. Anyhow, these coupon codes really help and thanks for sharing. Tracfone is a pretty good deal for many people. My daughter uses one as a second phone for her business.
In the meantime, even without this, Tracfone’s value is very solid. But the idea of getting even more for your money is always very appealing. Ha!
