There is nothing wrong with a 401k, it is uneducated investors who have no clue what they are sinking there money into and doing nothing once they do. They have no clue about the market they are in and wether to buy stocks or run to cash. In 2000 I was a bad investor and lost like everyone who is howling now in 2008 but never again is my motto.

In the last 6 years, 2 of which were a recession I have gone up 460% in my investments. I went to all cash on 7-1-07 and sat there making 2% in money market while all else lost 30 to 40%. On 3-9-09 I went back to stocks and since then have doubled my money in 1 year 7 months. I have it fgured out and am winning.

I took the time to learn what makes it tick. I am amazed how many people do not even know how to go online and make moves in their 401K or change anything they are frightened by a lack of education of what they are looking at. People wake up and learn. IT IS YOUR MONEY, take care of it no one else will.

[...] 2009 saw a lot of talk about the future of the 401(k). It seems only natural, given that it is one of the major means of saving for retirement for many American workers who had just seen those savings drop like a stone in the 2008 stock market crash. A lot of the talk was centered around ways to “fix” the 401(k) when it isn’t broken. This bothered me enough to blog about it in that post as well as Fixing What Isn’t Broken and Why 401K Retirement Plans Really Don’t Work And How To Fix Them [...]
